Sue Lee Mace, DVM
Hello, I am Dr. Mace, and welcome to Vetsavers. It has been my absolute dream to provide the best quality veterinary care at a price that is truly affordable. We are fortunate to be able to provide a wonderfully modern, clean, state of the art facility where pets get the best quality veterinary care they deserve.
After working 12 years in marketing, I returned to school and achieved my lifelong dream of becoming a veterinarian. I graduated from the Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 - truly one of the happiest days of my life! I feel privileged that every day I can care for pets that bring so much joy to people's lives. To aid the community, I volunteer with local shelters, and rescue groups. I practice compassionate medicine and care deeply for my patients and their pet parents. I look forward to meeting you and your beloved pets!
Jennifer Padilla, DVM
Hello, I am Dr. Padilla. I am a native Texan and graduated from the Texas A&M University, College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006 with my classmate and friend Dr. Sue Mace. I have been married to my husband David for 5 years and we have one daughter (Abigail) together. I am a proud pet parent of two cats, Sylvester and Spooky. In my free time, I love spending time with family, camping, swimming and yoga.
I am very excited to be able to work in a hospital environment where I am able to provide excellent quality care to treasured family pets at an affordable cost so no pet is left untreated.
Amanda Machen, CVT and Operations Manager
Hi! My name is Amanda and I am the lead technician and Operations Manager at Vetsavers Pet Hospital. Growing up in a family full of animal lovers it is no surprise I chose helping pets as my life long profession. I have been a Certified Veterinary Technician for 16 years and can't imagine doing any other job.
When I was a child we had quite the variety of animals come through our house. We raised pigs, cows, ducks, chickens, squirrels, raccoons, kittens, puppies, birds, reptiles and more. I was also in Future Farmers of America while in high school. Speaking of high school, that is where I met my husband. We have been together almost 15 years, married for 6 years. My animal family includes 3 dogs (Libby Lou, Coconut and Symon), 3 cats (RoxZee, Ringo and Starr), a bearded dragon named Pete and several fish.
Outside of animals I also enjoy time with family and friends, cooking, baking, muscle cars, music, baseball and hockey. Go Texas Rangers!
I am so glad to be a part of this wonderful team of fellow animal lovers at Vetsavers Pet Hospital. I am looking forward to helping the animal rescue community and educating clients on how to take care of their pets. Most importantly I am thrilled that we are able to offer such affordable pricing so that everyone is able to take the proper care that each animal deserves. It is very rewarding to be able to do something you love and also be able to make a difference in the lives of the deserving pets.
Kristen Helms, Office Manager
Being a true animal lover, I am thrilled to be a part of the Vetsavers Pet Hospital team where I am blessed to have a career that does not feel like “work”.
I was fortunate to have been raised on a small farm where my family had the usual inhabitants of horses, goats, chickens and pigs. We also had more exotic animals like parrots, ground hogs and even a monkey. As I child I was an accomplished equestrian and my family has been raising champion miniature horses since the late 1980’s.
My passion for animals has grown since childhood and it is completely normal for me to currently have a fur family of 8! It is a mixed bunch all rescued from the pound, a Great Dane, a Fox Terrier, a Whippet, 2 Italian Greyhounds and 3 Oriental Shorthairs.
I look forward to meeting and caring for your four legged family members too!
James Barnett, Technician
I have worked as a technician for 14 years and have volunteered with animal rescue groups for the same amount of time. My love for animals explains my houseful of all rescued pets – 4 dogs, 4 cats and a miligold macaw.
My interests include sign language, which I studied in college. Although I am not certified, I am fluent. I enjoy horseback riding with friends and great people. I also currently volunteer as the veterinary technician with Moka’s Dog rescue in McKinney. One day I plan on returning to college to become a veterinarian.
I am most excited to be on the team at Vetsavers Pet Hospital. I look forward to helping you and your fur-family have the best veterinary hospital experience.
